Santa Breakfast Added to Rotary Annual Hotcakes & Holly Fundraiser

Thursday, November 19, 2015

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be the honored guests at “Breakfast with Santa,” an addition to the Rotary Club of Murfreesboro’s 13th Annual Hotcakes and Holly fundraising breakfast.

This year we wanted to add a special opportunity for the children in our community,” said Barbara Sutton, Pancake Breakfast event chair and president-elect. “We will be having a special visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus, pictures with Santa, and Mrs. Claus will be doing a special reading of The Night Before Christmas for all of the kids who attend.”

The 13th annual Hotcakes & Holly pancake breakfast will take place at Middle Tennessee Christian School from 7:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 12th. Tickets are only $8.00 for the regular breakfast. Breakfast with Santa will cost $20, and take place from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.

Breakfast with Santa

While the regular breakfast is open to children and adults, just the children who attend the special Santa breakfast will receive a free picture with Santa and a copy of The Night Before Christmas, donated by Ingram Content Group.

Live Entertainment

For those electing to participate in the regular breakfast, there will be live entertainment and lots of pancakes, sausage, cinnamon roles, and orange juice. This year the event will be a plated breakfast, instead of a cafeteria line, served with an overflow of Holiday cheer by members of the club.

Middle Tennessee State University’s Women’s Basketball team will be visiting to participating in photo opportunities and to sign autographs. Musical entertainment will be provided by Middle Tennessee Christian School Choir, Johnny B and the Balladeers, Larry and Gay Pinkerton, and actors from the Murfreesboro Center for the Arts.

Who Fundraising Benefits

This is the club’s biggest fundraiser,” said club president John Dietrich. “It helps us raise funds to help many organizations in our local community. It also gives members of the club a chance to have some fun celebrating the season with old friends and new.”

The event benefits programs supported by the Rotary Club of Murfreesboro that focus primarily on community literacy, such as Read to Succeed, Books from Birth, and providing every third grader in Rutherford County with a dictionary of their very own.
